Michael O'Neill Obituary

Michael Thomas O'Neill is and will always be the most beloved son to Sheila and Richard O'Neill, brother to Christopher, Colleen and Sara, father of Vieralyn, and friend to countless people. He will be deeply missed from all of our lives. Michael grew up here in Albuquerque, NM and from the get go was a fisty no rules type of guy. From a very young age he aspired to be the pilot of an F-15 fighter jet. Any and all movies that came to the screen with an F-15 we had to watch. This was a telling sign of his future to come: Fast, Furious and Exciting.

Growing up in our neighborhood full of other kids Michael met one of the most loved people in his life, Don Roberts. Don and "The boys" would go out dirt bike riding all over the outskirts of Albuquerque and also going as far as competing with Don and the boys right there by his side teaching and cheering him on. Mike was very lucky to have had another loving family to turn to when in need. The activities he enjoyed with his other family helped with his craving of flying in the skies.

Throughout his school life Michael picked up countless friends, friends that loved him dearly and would go to the extremes for him. He had traveled countless times to Phoenix and California where he'd go pick up a burrito from Nick's Deli. While out visiting friends in California he was able to ride in some of the most exotic cars that he had dreamed of one day owning. Little did he realize that he had been attracting the life that he had always wanted.

Unfortunately one of his ventures on a fast machine ended him up in the hospital and into a wheel chair. He fought extremely hard to come back to life, then back to mobility and to a point walking again. Michael had his entire team of family and friends that came to visit and support him during his healing. His bond with family and friends intensified during this time and Michaels true love for others came out in full. Michaels love for life had also come back so much so that he returned to the ski slopes using a bi-ski, traveling all over the southwest with his therapists for personal ski trips. He also took up scuba diving with his brother Chris and Father Rick and had many diving trips to the bottom of blue hole in Santa Rosa, NM. He loved taking his bike out on rides off of Tramway and was an avid dancer (In the wheel chair) always taking on his brothers moves and ultimately taking all the ladies for himself… The Ladies Man.

Within the last decade of his life he had made a new relationship and a new commitment to a new type of life, a family life. Michael was a devoted boyfriend and partner working tirelessly for a family he so much desired. He worked to get himself his own place and out of the nest of his parents and into the world of family and independence of which he did extremely well. He eventually ended up owning his own home, having a pet cat and ultimately on his way to his dream family. Last January his daughter Vieralyn was born and his world bloomed with light and happiness. From the very second he had heard that him and his girlfriend where pregnant Michael was on top of the world. That love became unwavering the day he met his beautiful daughter. Michael had a hard time taking his eyes off his darling daughter let alone putting her down. The sparkle in his eyes became undoubtedly real for Vieralyn. Mike loved spending time with his daughter taking her on his weekly drives outside of Albuquerque where it was just Mike and Vera enjoying each other's company like two peas in a pod. Michael was undeniably proud to come share his new love with visits to Grandma O'Neill, Grandpa O'Neill, Aunt Colleen and Sara and Uncle (KiKi) Christopher.

As his family, we will always be undeniably proud of Michaels achievements throughout his short lifetime living with us all. He grew up to be such a handsome, loving, caring, selfless individual that has touched so many lives. Touching lives in such a way that he brightened your day if you allowed him to.

Michael, you will never be forgotten and everything we remember of you is wonderful, fun, exciting and humbling. You brought so much light to so many people that you may have forgotten about taking care of your own light at times. Your selflessness is needed on a world like ours and it's an absolute tragedy that a beautiful spirit has lost his light and that it has gone out in such a dark world when it is needed now more than ever. You are celebrated by your countless friends your ever loving family, Sheila, Richard, Christopher, Colleen, Sara and your beautiful daughter Vieralyn. Bless you Mike and we look forward to the day we get to meet up with you again. Fly hard or go home our love… We love you.
