Cody Crawford Obituary

Cody Robert Crawford was born on June 10, 1992. He came into this world with the attitude of “I’ll do it myself,” which he did and quite well. As an example, when he received his first two wheel bike that had training wheels on it, he turned around and spent 30 minutes taking the training wheels off. He told his dad and mom, that he didn’t want those things on he was going to do it “myself” and yes, he did.

Cody grew up in Belen, first going to Rio Grande Elementary and then moving to Los Lunas Schools. He had many friends from both school districts. He loved hunting, camping, fishing, working his farm and raising cattle, working on his truck, going snowboarding with Skyler, and going shooting with his grand pop, papa choo choo Later on it was discovered he liked to play cards with Mariah.

He truly loved his daughter June Rose; she was the light of his life. Cody loved June Fiercely with a love that is never ending. He will always be with her.

Cody leaves behind his beautiful daughter, June Rose (Stormie), His fiancé,’ Mariah Vigil, his Father, Mark Crawford, his mother, Lorie Johnson (Larry), Brother, Luke Crawford (Selena Henderson), sister Kaila Crawford ( Isaia Maez) Maternal Grandmother, Dorothy Wardlow (T.J. decd.), Uncle, Randy Crawford (Amy), Aunt, Donna Tofflemier (Ted). He had one adoring niece, Acelynn Burrus, who was so much like him. Cody also leaves behind two very special nephews, Brayden Crawford and Colton Crawford that will truly miss their Uncle Cody.

Cody was fondly called, “Cody Bob” by his papa Choo Choo and he would just grin and smile with that devious little smile he had that we all loved and remember. He was also called Sticks by many of his close friends like Rob and Skyler.

Cody was preceded in death by his Granpop, T.J. Wardlow, Grandfather W.J. Crawford, Grandmother Margaret Crawford, Uncle Bill Crawford, Aunt Terry Perez, and several cousins that he will get to reunite with.

Cody went to Los Lunas High School where he met Mariah and graduated with the class of 2010. He was very active in both 4-H and FFA. He showed livestock pigs and steers, which were his favorite even though he always seemed to get the steer with the attitude, he always did well showing them. His most disliked animals to show were the sheep. He hated them and always made an excuse so he didn’t have to be around to show them, “I hate those old things” were his words. But that was what we loved about Cody. He was honest in what he wanted to do and how he was going to do it himself.

Cody worked for the New Mexico Department of Corrections for 13 year. He enjoyed working there as well as the colleagues he worked with.

Cody’s sudden passing has left us all devastated; however, if he were here at this moment, he would simply smile with that devious grim, he would put on his favorite cap and say “catch you later.”
